POEMS ACROSS THE DISTANCE
with Iowa Poet Laureate Debra Marquart

This time of social isolation has led to many postponed or canceled events (including what would have been a very busy spring for our Speakers Bureau program). To continue our mission of promoting a culture and stories of importance to Iowa and the nation, HI is producing new, original in-house humanities programming for online and in social media spaces to help foster and sustain a sense of community and connection during a time when we need reminders of who we were, who we are, and what we can become.

This web series is hosted by current Iowa Poet Laureate Debra Marquart and features her original work and the work of poets she admires. Bonus content from past Laureates Marvin Bell and Mary Swander will be posted every Tuesday and Friday. These poets will also read original work recorded in their own homes or other personal spaces. You can watch the videos via the Humanities Iowa Playlist on YouTube.
